We are a
non-denominational college with 30 denominations represented
among the Cornerstone student body. Para-church organisations
associated with Cornerstone include Youth for Christ,
Scripture Union, and African Enterprise. Cornerstone is also
affiliated with the Council for Christian Colleges and
Universities (CCCU).
Cornerstone Institute has an informal network with:
-
The churches in the greater
Cape Town area where our students are involved
-
Schools in which some of our
students do their in-service training
-
Para-church organisations, for
example, Scripture Union.
Formal Network - We have partnerships with:
·
Bethel
University, Minnesota. Since 2005 Bethel University students,
particularly those majoring in Reconciliation Studies, have
joined us for a 16-week South Africa Term. These students
explore reconciliation issues through classes at Cornerstone,
excursions to places such as District Six and Robben Island,
and through opportunities to live with South African host
families and learn from their experiences.
· Azusa
Pacific University, California. Since 2007 we have hosted a
4-week immersion experience twice per year, with APU students
taking intensive classes at Cornerstone and visiting the local
points of interest.
· Geneva
College, Pennsylvania. Since 2005 we have hosted several GC
students who have joined the Bethel University students in
their South Africa term.
· Eastern
University, Pennsylvania. We have enjoyed a two-year faculty
exchange with the University.
· George
Fox University, Oregon. We have hosted brief visits from GFU
faculty and students, and are developing a semester abroad
programme similar to the one we enjoy with Bethel University.
· Messiah
College, Pennsylvania. We are currently developing a joint
programme with Messiah College, Cornerstone, and the
University of the Western Cape, which will see a group of MC
students joining our students for two weeks in January 2009
for a Racial, Ethnic, and Cultural Reconciliation Immersion
Programme (RECRIP), followed by our students visiting Messiah
College in January 2010, for a similar exploration of
reconciliation issues in the USA.
· University of Stellenbosch. We currently train students for a
BA in Christian Ministry degree through the University, but
since we now have our own accreditation for a BTh, this
partnership is being phased out as the last of those students
pass through the system.
